Tuesday 26th, 2012, 7 p.m., Jean Zimmerman presents The Orphanmaster, and a Powerpoint presentation.
Who is kidnapping the orphans in 1660s New Amsterdam? The algonquin demon? The ambitious she-merchant? The decadent aristocrat? The corrupt orphanmaster?
Our sales rep couldn't stop raving about this novel! In The Orphanmaster, a quick-witted twenty-two-year-old
orphan, Blandine von Couvering, and a dashing British spy named Edward Drummond
begin to investigate the mysterious deaths of orphan children in the tiny,
hardscrabble Dutch colony of New Amsterdam (now present-day southern Manhattan) during the year
1663. Both the search for the killer and Edward and Blandine’s newfound
romance are endangered, however, when Blandine is accused of being a witch and
Edward is sentenced to hang for espionage. Meanwhile, war looms as the English
king plans to wrest control of the colony.
A Powerpoint presentation by the author, on the research that went in to writing this historical novel, will be presented at this book signing.
